Was my custom Manitou Strings bass worth it? It was the smartest and coolest investment of 2019 for me. I have owned many Fender Jazz and Precision, Warwick, G&L, Ibanez and a 6 string Alvarez bass. We selected Aguilar passive pickups, which are incredible. Decided on a neck thru the body design with Maple and 2 stripes of Purple Heart in the center, a Babicz bridge, and the body is Mahogany, Purple Heart, Maple, and Cocobolo drop-tops on front and back. Headstock is custom shaped 4-string covered with Bird’s Eye Maple, Manitou Strings logo and tuners are Gotoh. The attention to detail on this instrument is incredible. I know this bass will bring me to a higher technical playing level. The sound and playability of this instrument far exceeds all others I have played. The real pleasure of having this bass built was my freedom to interject my thoughts and opinions and see it being created piece by piece.
